Matrioshka Workshop / Sittings
Sittings privacy policy
The short version: your log stays on your phone. Sittings has no account, no server and no way to reach the internet. Nothing leaves unless you send it.
Who makes it
Sittings is made by Irfan Rosdi, a solo developer in Singapore, under the name Matrioshka Workshop. Questions about this policy go to hello@matrioshka-workshop.com.
What Sittings keeps
Everything you put in: each sitting's time, type, amount, how long it took, its colour and your note. Also the name and doodle you choose, your theme, the shapes you draw, and any circles you set up.
All of it lives in one encrypted database on your phone. The key that unlocks it is held by your phone's own secure storage and never leaves it.
What leaves your phone
Nothing, on its own. The Android version of Sittings does not ask for permission to use the internet, so it cannot connect to anything. There is no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting and no tracking of any kind.
Things only leave when you send them:
- Exports. When you export, Sittings makes a file and hands it to your phone's share menu. You pick where it goes. We never see it. The file is not encrypted, notes included, so keep it somewhere you trust.
- Feedback. "Send feedback" opens your own email app with a message addressed to us. It includes the app's version and your phone's model and Android version, and nothing from your log. If you send it, we get your email address and whatever you wrote, and we use them only to reply and to fix things. Ask and we'll delete it.
Circles
Circles are for sharing sittings with friends. Sharing between phones is not built yet, so nothing in a circle reaches anyone. If that changes, this policy will change first.
Things worth knowing
- Backups. Android's automatic backup is switched off for Sittings on purpose: the key that unlocks your log can't be backed up, so a cloud copy could never be opened. If you lose your phone or uninstall the app, your log goes with it. An export is your backup.
- Your keyboard. Notes are typed with whatever keyboard your phone uses. Some keyboards learn from what you type or send it to their makers. That is between you and your keyboard, but it is the one way a note can leave without you choosing it.
- The lock. If you turn on Require unlock, your phone checks your face, fingerprint or passcode. Sittings only learns whether it worked.
Children
Sittings is not made for children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and anything that affects what leaves your phone will be said in the app too.
